Critical Thinking

Critical Thinking About Politics (PSCI 1000) is a general education course that focuses on teaching students the basic elements of critical and analytical thinking in a political setting. I taught this course in the summer of 2019 as an online course. See below for examples of the syllabus and essay rubrics.

First Essay Rubric

The first essay assignment for the course asked students to begin thinking about how to use critical thinking and argumentation skills when discussing their own views

Final Essay Rubric

The first paper asked students to argue in favor of their own opinion, and the second to argue against it. The final paper required students to synthesize the two essays and provide counterpoints to arguments made in paper two.
